The Hope Technology School Assistive Technology (AT) Manual is a culmination of a decade of hard work by a team of therapists, teachers and parents. The manual includes activities, lists of resources, touching stories as well as the reasoning behind the activities. This approach allows other’s to adapt the activities and build on this body of work.
Some of the activities are specific to the HP TouchSmart computer and have lead to a new social initiative called Hacking Autism.
The manual can be downloaded for free at http://www.hopetechschool.org/ATManual. New submissions, questions, and constructive comments are wanted as this is a collaborative “work in progress”. The AT Manual is both simple and useful as well as inspirational. To quote, Gail Ewell, the school’s founder, “You cannot give up hope!”
