Wondering what to do to spice up your spelling program? I love the website I found called Spelling City!!! It is a great way for the kids in our class to have fun practicing their spelling words. The greatest part is that you can assign each student their own list to work at their level. Each time a student logs in and does activities it keeps a record for the teacher to see how they are doing. It also records the score they receive on the spelling test. I have made it an optional homework activity, but have had several students type out their sentences, take their tests and practice their lists on numerous games at home. At home or at school you can also print out the word lists, handwriting sheets and flash cards. This is a fabulous resource I have found for my inclusive class at Hope Technology School. You can type in your own list or they have hundreds of lists that you can use as your own and upload to your homepage. They also have several tutorials to help you easily set up your homepage for those who, like me, may be a little bit technology challenged. Lastly, since we have a small class size of 12 and the premium membership includes 30 licenses, they allow you to share those licenses with another teacher who can set up her own page. Have I mentioned yet how much I love it?
